Acuafil Ofteno (polyvinyl alcohol) is an eye lubricant that is indicated for the treatment of dry eye caused by a decrease or no formation of tears. It works as an additive to normal tears and is useful for relieving dry eyes. The drug protects the cornea and conjunctiva from mechanical irritation and friction of the eyelids, reducing the discomfort of inflamed eyes.

Acuafil Ofteno is no longer available but we have plenty of other options to treat dry eye.

Indications

Treatment of dry eyes

Dosage and administration

Apply one or two drops as often as required. The usual dose is every hour or every 2 or 3 hours as required.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the components.

Side effects

Mild transient blurred vision after application.

Overdose

In case of overdose, administer oral fluids to dilute the product.

Interaction

Avoid using Acuafil Ofteno together with other eye care products.
