Omeprazole is used to treat certain conditions where there is too much acid in the stomach. It can treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcers associated with the infection caused by the H. pylori bacteria, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, dyspepsia. It can also prevent upper gastrointestinal tract bleeding.
