Vodelan is a urinary antibacterial-analgesic drug. It’s a combination of ciprofloxacin and phenazopyridine. Ciprofloxacin acts intracellularly by inhibiting DNA gyrase which is an essential bacterial enzyme in the duplication, transcription and separation of bacterial DNA. Phenazopyridine exerts a topical analgesic or local anesthetic action on the mucosa of the urinary tract. The drug is used to treat urinary tract infections that are accompanied by a large painful component of the urinary tract, caused by germs sensitive to ciprofloxacin.
